David was born and raised in southern Florida (near the Everglades) but spent a lot of time growing up in southern Maine (near the lobsters). He studied Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania, then Management at MIT, before California's weather and photographic appeal drew him to Stanford, where he is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Design Research within the Mechanical Engineering Design Group. David's research focuses on how (robotic) embodiment, gesture and engagement can enrich collaboration within distributed design teams.
