Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel

Christoph Meinel is President and CEO of the Hasso Plattner Institute for IT-Systems Engineering (HPI) and professor for Internet Technologies and Systems. He is also a visiting professor at the School of Computer Science of the Technical University of Beijing and a research fellow of the SnT (Security and Trust) interdisciplinary center of the Luxembourg university. Under his leadership the HPI School of Design Thinking in Potsdam opened in 2007. He is one of the major advocates of the Design Thinking method in Europe and has been teaching at the HPI School of Design Thinking since the beginning. He is the co-author of a book on Design Thinking (Hasso Plattner, Christoph Meinel, Ulrich Weinberg, Design Thinking. Innovationen lernen – Ideenwelten öffnen, München: mi-Wirtschaftsbuch, FinanzBuch Verlag, 2009). A mathematician by training, Christoph Meinel received his graduate degree, doctorate, and post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. He is the author or co-author of 10 text books and monographs and has published more than 350 articles in internationally recognized peer-review journal.
