The Potsdam experts at the HPI School of Design Thinking supported the establishment and expansion of the activities at the Cape Town d-school.  HPI Director Prof. Christoph Meinel, Prof. Uli Weinberg, Head of the HPI D-School and Dr. Claudia Nicolai, Academic Director of the Potsdam innovation school, all joined the opening ceremony in Cape Town.

Together with several partners, UCT developed a Design Thinking program that focuses on the promotion of innovations on the African continent. According to founding director Richard Perez the innovation method has the potential to transform African cities that are characterized by an unequal distribution of and access to resources and services.
