Thinking new, working differently

In the meantime, Design Thinking has become more than just a creative process. What was originally intended as an innovation method for products and services in Stanford, has advanced to a completely new way of seeing people in relation to work, of imagining the concept of work and of posing questions about how we want to live, learn, and work in the 21st century. The appeal of Design Thinking lies in its ability to inspire new and surprising forms of creative teamwork. “We-intelligence” is the new catchword and collaboration the foundation for a new work awareness.

Design Thinking is a process AND a mindset. But it’s also much more than that. Implemented in daily work, the problem-solving potential of Design Thinking finds its expression in the form of a living innovation culture. This is even more the case when holistic and user-centered solutions are sought. How this works in detail and is implemented in practice can be learned at the HPI D-School in one to two semesters.

Design Thinking supports and encourages collaborative creativity to solve problems in a holistically and user-centered way. Unconventional paths are thereby welcome. Business, research and even politics increasingly recognize the intrinsic potential of teams - whose focal point is people.

In Practice - Realistic and Diverse

To get an idea of the challenges we are presented with by our partners, we would like to give you a glimpse of selected projects. Every semester, the HPI D-School accepts new challenges with up to 16 project partners. The questions posed come from large corporations as well as from small and medium-size businesses, public institutions and NGOs. The topics include health, energy, mobility, safety, education, finance, logistics and sustainability.
