D-Flect: Cradle to Cradle – Leaving a big and positive footprint
We are happy to invite you to our upcoming D-Flect session, which will take place on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the HPI School of Design Thinking. This time we look forward to welcoming Nora Sophie Griefahn, Executive Director of the Cradle to Cradle Association Germany, who will talk about “Cradle to Cradle – leaving a big and positive footprint”.
We have poisoned the ground and the air, we have overfished the oceans and we have rooted out the forests. In the face of this résumé it would be a logical conclusion to perceive mankind as an environmental burden. However, this would also lead us to assume that humans are always in contrast with nature, and must only reduce the destructive actions. The Cradle to Cradle movement believes that humans have to use their competencies as creative beings to act in a positive way for humans and nature. At the core of this change is a new idea of man as beneficial organism that are part of nature and do leave a positive footprint. The C2C school of thought is looking to abandon old patterns of thinking and to establish new paths towards intelligent abundance: Products and services are being re-imagined from start to (re-)start – from cradle to cradle.
In her talk, Nora Griefahn will introduce the C2C school of thought and design concept, outline its principles, and discuss the interplay of biological and technical cycles.
