The advent of powerful, transformative AI, including large multimodal foundation models, offers unprecedented opportunities to revolutionize digital health. Harnessing this potential for clinical decision-making and large-scale public health data analysis requires a new generation of AI systems that are not only capable of complex reasoning but are also inherently safe, private, fair, efficient, and aligned with human values.
The chair "Digital Health: Human-Centred Transformative AI", led by Univ. Prof. Dr. med. Georg Kaissis, focuses on this developing cutting-edge multimodal AI models for medicine and pioneering methods to provide verifiable guarantees for their reliability. Our work spans from foundational research in machine learning, including differential privacy, fairness, interpretability, model editing and efficiency, to the creation of large-scale, human-in-the-loop systems based on multimodal large reasoning models designed to empower clinicians, researchers and patients.
