Digital Health – Non-communicable Diseases

The research area Digital Health – Non-communicable Diseases, led by Prof. Dr. med. Katarina Braune, focuses on developing digital technologies for the prevention and care of chronic, non-communicable conditions, with a particular emphasis on diabetes mellitus. The interdisciplinary research approach integrates medicine, computer science, and societal participation. Key areas of focus include algorithm-driven systems for automated insulin delivery (AID), context-aware decision support, digital biomarkers, psychosocial health applications, open-source technologies, and global scalability. The goal is to design adaptive, explainable, and equitable digital health solutions that are rooted in the lived realities of the people they are intended to support.
