The semester begins—but classes start later. Starting today, you're officially a student!
The Student Council, the student representative body, welcomes you to campus. Together with representatives from the institute's management, research groups, faculty, and administration, the students will show you everything you need to know about the institute, the campus, and your degree program to help you settle in and get off to a great start. The two-day program includes a campus tour, an introduction to university life, networking opportunities at HPI, an introduction to the infrastructure, and, of course, the opportunity to meet your new classmates.
Here you will also learn which courses you should and could take in the first semester, how to register for courses actually works, and where you need to go during the first week of lectures to attend the courses.
Classes begin today. You will likely take the bridge modules assigned to you in your first semester. A required course in the winter semester is the Digital Health Systems and Data Interoperability course (module "Software Architectures for Digital Health"). Otherwise, you can choose from a range of courses in the specialisation areas. Recommendations from the digital health area for the first semester include courses such as "Decoding your Transcriptome," or "Healthcare Economics." 30 CP per semester are recommended.

Phase IV: Ready for your first exam?
You must register for any exam you wish to take in the MyCampus portal no later than eight days before the exam. You can cancel your registration up to two days before the exam.
Remember that you must always re-register for the upcoming semester on time! Starting in mid-January (mid-June for the winter semester), you will find the invoice with the due amount in your PULS account. Late re-registration is possible until March 15th. Otherwise, you will be de-registered as a student! The re-registration periods for the winter semester are June 15th to July 15th; late re-registration is possible until August 31st.
Classes end today, marking the beginning of the semester break. Some lecturers offer block courses during this time, and some required courses may also be held as a block during the semester break.
At HPI, some exams take place during the first two weeks of the semester break. Some courses also offer a second exam date at the end of the semester break, which you can take alternatively (if you wish or were on a sick leave during the first exam date) or additionally (as a second attempt or to improve your grade (you must apply for a free attempt!)). Good luck!
After the exams, you will have a few weeks off before the summer semester starts in April.
