New to the leadership team at HPI

The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) announces that the Hasso Plattner Foundation (HPF), as its supporting trust, has appointed Dr. Henrik Haenecke as Managing Director of Finance and Administration at HPI, effective October 1, 2025. He succeeds Dr. Marcus Kölling, who left the institute on April 30, 2025.

Dr. Henrik Haenecke brings extensive expertise in finance and transformation, with leadership experience across highly regulated industries as well as the startup sector. His previous roles include Managing Director of the Kaiser´s Tengelmann Group, Member of the Executive Board of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), and CFO of the startup Berlin Brands Group. Most recently, he served as CEO of the food startup mymuesli.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Henrik Haenecke said: "The Hasso Plattner Institute stands for excellence in research, teaching, and innovation. I am excited to contribute my experience from diverse industries and companies to help shape the Institute’s next major steps of development together with the team."

A successor is currently being sought for Professor Ralf Herbrich, who stepped down from the management team in May 2025 for personal reasons. Professor Herbrich will resume his teaching and research activities on October 1, 2025.
