The Hasso Plattner Institute sincerely invites its graduates, professors, PhD students and friends to the graduation ceremony on Friday, 16 May 2025 in the Nikolaisaal Potsdam.
Congratulations on your graduation!
We would like to celebrate this significant milestone together with you. In addition to the ceremonial presentation of the graduation certificates, there will be festive speeches, musical highlights and, of course, something to toast to.
Graduates may bring up to two guests with them. Registration is required for all guests, regardless of whether they are graduates, accompanying persons, PhD students or professors. Entry to the graduation ceremony is free. For capacity reasons, however, registration is required.

Important Notes on Participation
Only graduates whose graduation requirements are met and recorded in the system by April 30, 2025, are eligible to participate. Registration is not possible without a recorded graduation date. This date will be requested in the registration form as proof of your graduation.
Please note that eligibility to participate will be verified by the Office of Academic Affairs by April 30, 2025. All graduates will then receive an email informing them whether they meet the eligibility requirements.
Students who have only a "provisionally passed" status or are still awaiting evaluation and grading of their Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis as of the deadline cannot participate
in the Graduation Ceremony. However, they will be eligible to attend the following year’s ceremony, provided the eligibility requirements are met.

FAQ
Graduates and PhD students may bring up to two guests each. It is necessary that all guests are registered by you in the registration form.
There will be a seat for everyone. Graduates will be seated in the front rows.
Graduates who meet the eligibility criteria will receive detailed information and final instructions regarding the gown distribution a few days before the event. Please ensure your email address is valid and check your spam folder as well.
Wearing a gown at the Graduation Ceremony is optional. The gown fee covers costs for rental, logistics, and cleaning. While wearing the gown is not mandatory, it has become a cherished tradition. Many graduates appreciate celebrating their academic achievements in a gown, as it lends a special atmosphere to the ceremony and creates lasting memories.
A photographer will capture the event’s highlights, preserving this memorable occasion for you and your guests.
Graduates who have already collected their original certificate will receive a decorative certificate as a symbolic memento. Those who have not yet picked up their certificate will receive their original document during the ceremony.
No problem! You are welcome to attend the next Graduation Ceremony, provided the eligibility requirements are still met. We look forward to celebrating with you then!
You can still register for the Graduation Ceremony even without an official invitation, provided your graduation date is on or before April 30, 2025. Please note that your graduation date will be requested in the registration form, and eligibility will be verified by the Office of Academic Affairs.
Yes, professional photos will be taken of all graduates in cohorts as well as of the whole group and the audience. Anyone who registers and takes part agrees to be photographed and to the publication of these photos (print and online).
Please note that there are almost no parking spaces on site, and we therefore highly recommend that you arrive by public transport. In this case, get out at the “Platz der Einheit/West” tramway stop or walk from Potsdam Central Station.
