Since February 1, 2024, Anika has been the Team Lead in Pupil and Student Marketing at HPI. In this interview, she provides insights into her work and tells us her team's goals for the coming year.
Hasso Plattner Institute: How long have you been at HPI and what are your responsibilities?
Anika Buge-Rekic: I've been at HPI since February 1, 2024. Together with my team, I am responsible for promoting the study programs and scholarship offers as well as the Youth Academy at HPI.
HPI: Do you have a favourite place at HPI? And if so, which one?
Anika: Yes! The little ‘forest’ in front of House ABC right next to our pond.
HPI: What impressed you most during your first six months?
Anika: The students at HPI, the campus and the canteens. I briefly considered whether I should apply to study at HPI myself.
HPI: What has been your highlight and/or favourite project so far?
Anika: The Bachelor Info Day. Event organization can sometimes be a challenging job, so I went into the organization of my first event at HPI with mixed feelings. However, on the day of the event, I was surprised by the complete opposite. For me, the day was characterized by such a proactive and energetic atmosphere that in the end I wondered whether I had forgotten something.
HPI: What goals have you set yourselves for the next year in your student marketing team?
Anika: Many! But above all, focus! I want to encourage my team through participation and transparency not only to be excellent in the quiet room, but also to make our work and successes visible. Take the Youth Academy, for example: Did you know that over 25 percent of our Top 100 Bachelor applicants for winter term 2023/24 have already had contact with at least one Youth Academy programs? Crazy, isn't it?
HPI: What would you like to achieve personally at HPI?
Anika: I am happy when I can make a difference at HPI - creativity and courage are the core values of HPI that drive me.
HPI: Please complete the sentence: "For me, HPI is...
Anika: ... a place that keeps my younger self awake - because it is simply inspiring to work in an environment that unites young people and technology."
