Welcome to the research cluster "Data and AI"! Our research focuses on exploring and developing advanced data and AI technologies. Our goal is to shape the future of data analysis, data processing, and automatic prediction through innovative approaches.

Our Mission

Our cluster focuses on researching the methods for collecting, analyzing, processing, integrating and applying big data. These processes are crucial for making accurate predictions and implementing efficient automation in a wide range of industries.

Research Focuses

  1. Data analysis and processing: We develop and optimize new hardware and advanced techniques for analyzing and processing large amounts of data. We either produce this data ourselves through measurement methods, or we use existing data sources, such as social media, sensors, and traditional databases.
     
  2. Data integration: Our focus is on checking the data quality of various data sources, cleansing them if necessary, and finally integrating them into a uniform data set. High-quality data sets and their metadata, for example, provide an excellent basis for training AI systems.  
     
  3. Application and predictions: By using statistical, AI, and machine learning tools, we enable precise predictions with uncertainties and the automation of decision-making processes. These technologies help companies and organizations to take proactive measures, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and process optimization.
     
  4. Energy-efficient AI processes: Our research focuses on the development of modern, energy-efficient AI processes. These processes are designed to be robust and sustainable while minimizing the ecological footprint.

Research School "Data Science and Engineering"

The heart of our cluster is the HPI Research School "Data Science and Engineering". This is where we train the next generation of data scientists and data engineers. Our students and researchers benefit from a solid education, while conducting basic research and working on innovative, practice-oriented projects that have a direct impact on the field of data science and engineering.
