After eight months in the incubating phase, the Apache Software Foundation board unanimously passed the resolution to establish Apache Flink as a top-level project. An important aspect for this promotion is the activity and size of the community around the project.
Apache Flink is a scale-out data analytics platform that directly emerged from the first Stratosphere project that was conducted - amongst others - at the HPI Information Systems group. Furthermore, it is the foundation for a lot of research within the current Stratosphere II project, whereby the research also makes contributions back to Flink.
