Internet Security II - Weaknesses and Targets

(Teleteaching)

Based on a well-funded understanding of the TCP/IP-protocol weak points and targets of Internets and Intranets are discussed including

  • Human Factor – Social Hacking
  • Collecting System Information
  • Account- and Password Attacks
  • Attacks on the IP-, TCP-, UDP-, and Application Level
  • Design- and Programming Errors
  • Weaknesses in UNIX/Linux and in Windows NT/2000
  • Attacks on Web-Server.

The lecture starts on 30th April and finishes on 30th July. It takes 2 hours a week and is adapted for students of computer science, business computer science, and mathematics, as well as for listeners who are interested in questions and Internet Security.

The lecture will be presented in English and transferred online as teleteaching into the Internet.

Due to an agreement with the dean of the computer science department of the University of Technology (China), this lecture is part of the curriculum of computer science students from this University too.


Organisation of the Lecture:

Note: This is not a regular classroom lecture. All lecture will be sent over Internet with the help of tele-TASK. You can access the lectures at the tele-TASK Homepage.

Students have to solve and to submit exercises weekly. Exercises can be downloaded and solved through a web-interface. Discussion forums are also provided.
