Since 2017, Prof. Böttinger has successfully built up the digital health department at HPI. Under his leadership, the first interdisciplinary and English-language master's program "Digital Health" was introduced at HPI, bringing together both students of computer science and of medicine. In 2019, on his initiative, the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai (HPIMS) was founded in New York. The HPIMS, realized through the financial support of the Hasso Plattner Foundation, has opened up new and exceptional research opportunities for HPI researchers and students in view of its immense data treasure. More than 200 scientific publications in genomic diagnostics, precision medicine, digital health, biomedical data science, artificial intelligence, and information technology have been produced in just five years as part of this collaboration with Mount Sinai University Hospital.
"With its excellence and dynamism in many areas of informatics and its outstanding students, HPI offers a unique environment for research, teaching, and development to advance digitalization in healthcare and digital technologies for patients in Germany. I am very pleased to have been able to contribute to laying a solid foundation for excellence and international appeal in digital medicine at HPI. To this end, I would like to thank the many scientific staff members for their excellent cooperation and, above all, the HPI management for their trust and support. I am convinced that in the field of digital medicine at HPI, especially in cooperation with the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai in New York City, many decisive impulses and solutions for digitization in healthcare will be created in the future," said Böttinger.
We wish Prof. Böttinger all the best for the future!
