The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) has six branches on four continents. Besides the headquarters in Potsdam, founded in October 1998, the branches in the USA, China, Israel and South Africa offer students and scientists in-depth exchange with international partners and research establishments.
- New York, USA
The first branch of the HPI was inaugurated in New York in 2017. All research departments can thus intensify their cooperation with American partners and initiate new projects.
- Nanjing, China
The Chinese branch of the research school in Nanjing was established in 2011. Fifty PhD students are currently studying at the HPI Research School at Nanjing University.
- Haifa, Israel
HPI has collaborated with the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology since April 2010. Currently, 15 PhD students are involved in research at the HPI Research School at Technion, Haifa.
- Cape Town, South Africa
The HPI Research School at University of Cape Town was established in April 2009. The research topics of the PhD students include information and communication technologies for emerging nations.
