Postdoctoral Research Fellowship - Data Science and Deep Learning

We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position in digital health-personalized medicine with a specific interest in applications to electronic health records (EHR), digital technologies in human health, and its innovative integrations.

The institute has a vested interest in using advanced data science methodologies and digital technologies to push forward precision medicine and personalized health services. Key topics of interest include but are not limited to: predictive modeling for disease outcomes and personalized therapeutic recommendations, development and/or implementation of digital and sensor technologies on mobile devices, and multimodal data integration. 

The successful candidate will be assigned to and work with research teams under supervision of the PI at the Digital Discovery Program of the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai. The digital discovery program (DDP) at HPI.MS seeks to integrate multi-modal data including wearable, self-reported, genomic, environmental and other data using patient-centered approaches, and to provide a scalable and compliant digital framework for clinical evaluation of digital interventions/therapeutics.

The position will be supported initially from the Smart4Health (www.smart4health.eu) international consortium, funded by a contract from the European Union Horizon 2020 Program. The objective of the S4H consortium is to develop a prototype user-centric platform for personalized health data management and exchange and personalized health services on mobile devices.  

 

Position Requirements:

The ideal candidates will have the following background:

  1. PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in a quantitative science-related field (e.g., biomedical informatics, clinical informatics, machine learning, biostatistics, genetics, etc.
  2. Significant experience in machine learning techniques is preferred, ideally with published work and/or code available. Expertise with deep learning frameworks is preferred (e.g., Tensorflow, PyTorch, Keras).
  3. Expertise with programming and statistical software experience in R and/or Python.
  4. Prior experience with digital health studies is a strong advantage.
  5. Excellent publication track record.
  6. Strong communication and presentation skills with fluency in spoken and written English.
