Gerhard Oswald was appointed Fellow of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) today by HPI Director Professor Christoph Meinel as part of the 13th Symposium on Future Trends in Service-Oriented Computing. The EX-SAP board member has been active in the HPI Board of Trustees for eight years and has further expanded the research relationships between HPI and SAP. In May, he is to be elected to the SAP Supervisory Board.
HPI Director Professor Christoph Meinel presented the medal during the symposium on Thursday afternoon in Potsdam and thanked Oswald for his many years of commitment. For more than eight years he has followed and accompanied the development of the HPI, so Meinel. Since studying at the Hasso Plattner Institute is characterized in particular by its strong practical relevance, close cooperation between science and industry is of particular importance.
Before Oswald, twelve other prominent figures have received this award, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger and former EU Commissioner Neelie Kroes, the two "fathers" of the Internet, Bob Kahn and Vinton Cerf and the former Brandenburg Prime Minister Manfred Stolpe and Matthias Platzeck.
