HPI Startup Bootcamp #MediaTech

From December 6-8, 2019, this year's HPI Startup Bootcamp, entitled "MediaTech," brought together students from various disciplines, such as IT systems engineering, media and business administration, with industry experts to develop and realize great business ideas. In 50 hours of hard work, together with like-minded people they experienced the ups and downs of building a team, developing new business ideas and entering the startup life.

#MediaTech – Bootcamp 2019

Once a year, the Hasso-Plattner-Institute (HPI) organizes the HPI Startup Bootcamp. This year's Bootcamp took place from December 6th to 8th, 2019, under the title of "MediaTech." On one weekend, students and alumni work in small teams or alone to develop a viable business idea for a startup. During the three-day crash course, the participants deepen their knowledge for team composition, idea generation, customer-focused product development, start-up marketing and business model development.

Partner of the Bootcamp

Real tasks, which come from real-life practice, were posed by our industrial partner Rolls Royce and its Innovations Lab "R² Data Labs".

R² Data Labs was founded in 2017 as a catalyst and accelerator for Rolls Royce's data innovation. The A.I. Hub Berlin is specialized in topics such as digital assistants, UX (User Experience), machine learning or efficient feature engineering.

At the end of the weekend, the expert jury, consisting of Erdinç Koç, head of the MediaTech Hub Accelerator in Potsdam, Dr. Klaus Paulfrom Rolls Royce Germany and Dr. Claudia Nicolai from the HPI D-School, evaluated the teams.

After a lively discussion, the jury chose the "Datafy" team as the winner. Datafy is designed to help analysts make data-driven decisions by improving the visualization of project progress for collaborative platforms. The "Simply" team won the prize for the best pitch of 2019.

All information about the teams, their ideas and the HPI Startup Bootcamp can be found on the events page.

Why MediaTech?

Potsdam has been Germany's digital hub for MediaTech since 2017. The Hasso-Plattner-Institute, the University of Potsdam, and the Babelsberg Film School are working together to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
