Potsdam Conference on National Cyber Security honored with 2017 Potsdam Congress Award

Since 2013, the "Potsdam Conference on National Cybersecurity" brings together the leading representatives from politics, science and industry at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) on cybersecurity once a year. Due to the progressive digitization and dependence of society on functioning IT, the topic is becoming increasingly important; the number of digital threats is increasing for governments, businesses and individuals.

Yesterday, the Potsdam Conference on National Cybersecurity was honored with the 2017 Potsdam Congress Award in the category "Regularly Recurring Events".

HPI Director Professor Christoph Meinel is pleased about the award, "because cybersecurity is a central social issue that we want to raise even more awareness with the Cybersicherheitskonferenz from Potsdam." The persistent headlines about new hacker attacks, malicious software and rising cybercrime showed that cybersecurity is an essential prerequisite for the success of digitalization.

The next and 6th Potsdam Conference on National Cybersecurity will be held at the HPI from 21 to 22 June 2018. Further information can be found here: https://www.potsdamer-sicherheitskonferenz.de/konferenz.html
