Outgoing – Abroad

HPI students have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad with the Erasmus+ program at a partner university or as a free mover at an institution of their choice.  Or complete an internship abroad at one of SAP's worldwide locations.

Study abroad with ERASMUS+

The Hasso Plattner Institute and the Digital Engineering Faculty maintain partnerships with various European universities. We encourage HPI students to spend a semester abroad. A semester abroad can be done during the bachelor's and master's program, but we recommend the master's program for this purpose. A semester abroad is not recommended during the fifth and sixth semesters of the HPI bachelor's program, as the bachelor's projects and final theses are written during this period. Alternatively, you can apply for several semesters of leave if, for example, you would like to complete two stays abroad.

Important information about the application

The application deadline for the academic year 2024/25 is January 31, 2024. Please note that there is only one application round for the entire following academic year (winter and summer semester). In order to apply, you must be enrolled at the University of Potsdam at the time of the ERASMUS+ exchange semester(s).

Detailed information on the application process and an overview of frequently asked questions (FAQ) can be found on the website of the International Office of the University of Potsdam.

Study abroad as a free mover

There is no ERASMUS+ contract between the institution you would like to study at and the University of Potsdam? Then you are a free mover. Please note that the application deadlines may differ from those of the ERASMUS+ program.

SAP Internship

As part of the SAP Internship Program, you have the opportunity to complete a paid internship at one of SAP's worldwide locations during the summer semester. Application deadline is December 8, 2023 for the following summer semester. For further information, please contact Cathleen Potter.
