PhD

At HPI, doctoral students can pursue a doctoral degree as a staff member at one of the departments or as a scholarship holder at one of the HPI Research Schools. It is possible to apply for a position as a research assistant even before submitting an application for admission.

In cooperation with the VHS Potsdam, HPI regularly offers language courses for international doctoral candidates to improve their German language skills. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact sprachkurse(at)hpi.de.

Study with a degree (Bachelor and Master)

The same procedure applies to prospective international applicants as to applicants with a German university entrance qualification. If you have any questions, please contact the HPI Student Advisory Service or the International Office of the University of Potsdam. Please check the University of Potsdam website for information on proof of language proficiency. Prospective students who have not (successfully) passed the German Language Test for University Admission can find information on how to do so here.

Exchange and program students

You would like to study one or two semesters at the joint digital engineering faculty of the Hasso Plattner Institute and the University of Potsdam? If there is a valid ERASMUS contract between your university and the University of Potsdam, apply at your university for a place in the ERASMUS program. The University of Potsdam also accepts students from other universities.

If you come from another partner university, apply at your university for the corresponding exchange program with the University of Potsdam.

There is no contract between the institution you are studying at and the University of Potsdam? Then you are a free mover. Please note that the application deadlines may differ from the usual deadlines.
